From: Duff Robin < rmd@msoft.it > Date: Thu Aug 20 14:58:39 1998 Subject: #792 Venegono ****** PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A SUNDAY RUN as the AFH3 Run #001 is on Saturday 22 August 1998 sorry for those getting this for the 3rd time but Bwana got the date wrong the first 2 and some didn't get. The Beer Wagon is broken but other arrangements are being made. Tonedeaf #792 SUNDAY 23 AUGUST'98 at 5pm The hash will be at Venegono Superiore, Bwana's home village. For the convenience of the dedicated hashers who are going to Aviano H3 hash # 1 on Saturday the run has been moved to Sunday, so make sure you are there. A restaurant will be booked for the On On, probably the Pizzeria opposite the carpark, so I must know numbers. Please reply by return E Mail to book. You can also call me (and leave a message if I don't respond) on 0348 410 4188. Run Fee Lit 5000 Restaurant, approx lit 25000 per head, depending on the deal I get, which also depends on the numbers who book. The hash starts at 5.00 pm For those who can't remember how to get to Bwana's den, here are some new and improved directions. FRom Milan; By car (45 minutes from the beginning of the A8) Take the A8 Autostrada for Varese. Exit at Gazzada, about 2 km before Varese. Bear right out of the exit road and continue round the curve, straight on through traffic lights and on for a few kilometres until you come to the sign for Lozza. The road crosses a bridge and immediately there is a big roundabout. Turn right, taking the first exit off the roundabout, up the hill following signs to Milan. After about two kilometres you see a sign for Castiglione Olona, and there is a big white building on your right with a sign, "Galimberti". Shortly after this you come to a set of traffic lights with the brick built church on the right. Turn left at the lights, taking the road up the hill sign-posted Venegono S. (for Venegono Superiore). (Don't confuse this with Venegono Inferiore which is a few kms further on). Go uphill until you reach the beginning of the village where there is a level crossing. Once over the railway line go through the traffic lights into the mainstreet (the junction is offset so veer right then left. You see the "Cucciaio d'Argento" Pizzeria on your left and there is a car park on the right. By train; Take the Ferrovia Nord from Cadorna. There are trains to Venegono Superiore at least every hour, sometimes more often. The journey takes about 55 minutes. Don't get off at Venegono Inferiore, which is the station before Superiore! At the station walk out onto the road where you see the level crossing, and follow the last sentence of the instructions above. The car park is only 100 metres from the station. In case of difficulty, Bwana's number is 0348 410 4188 On On Bwana ######################################################################### not too late to go to Aviano. Reply by tomorrow (Friday 1200 latest) ######################################################################### Dear Hashers, Having now hashed Cheshire HHH I can now throw out a challenge to find a more boring hash. CH3 makes our Swiss friends look like circus entertainers on speed. I was first told, " We don`t do circles or down downs or anything". Is there a beer stop then?, asked I in innocence. "Very droll", they said. Ok song stops?. "No." Who is the GM and RA? "No, don`t have them." Meal? "No." Pissup? "No." When asked to sign the list, I asked name or Hash name? "Hash name, what`s that?" In the pub after, I was told, "We have a kitty - 3.50 - and then we drink it all!" Worst of all, I had two hash virgins with me - no acknowledgement of this at all. It is sad when a young man looses his virginity and beer isn`t poured over his head. I have to say it was a good run, through good Cheshire countryside in good weather but a hash in name only. A mere running club. Challenge: I claim the title of "Worlds Most Boring Hash" for CHHH. Any takers?? Strawberry 4Skin ON ON Milan !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -------------------------------------------------- First contenders are BH7 ( Brighton ) are also rumoured to be the same but they run serious distances too - AAA afiliated and all that. Some take great delight in going there and setting trails and not telling them. There are probably a few West country hashes that are similarly disinterested in the usual frills of hashing - they're a funny lot. UK events in general do not have a great Devon/Cornwall contingent with honourable exceptions. Dhekelia H3 on Cyprus, outside of Interhash times, is rumoured to be officers only, no visitors. Ol*mp**ick managed to tag along once and only got into the On-On ( someone's house ) by literally jamming his foot in the closing door and blagging it. Varberg H3 - THESE guys...Rarely participate, never contribute, all wear the same shell suits on the rare occasions they do travel.. Turku H3 in Finland - never met any of them but I did hear they don't go for circles either. Years ago there was a report on the net from some septic who visited some really obscure African hash - they don't even assemble at the start, you turn up and run the trail when you feel like it. Must be fun if you run into the local wildlife on your own...Or maybe they just don't like Americans.... name withheld
